Here is a brief introduction to some of the Sensei (Instructors)
at the Missoula Black Belt Academy.
Floyd Adams holds the rank of Yodan (4th degree black) in Judo and has practiced since 1961. Other styles that he has studied include Jujitsu, Karate, Boxing, and Aikido. One of his students, Kari Gabriel, was a member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Judo team.
Larry Evans is a Sandan (3rd degree black) has played Judo for over 37 years. Larry has also studied internationally in Russia, Australia, Indonesia, and at the Kodokan in Tokoyo, Japan and the Korean National Dojo in Seoul, South Korea. Larry has also studied other styles of martial arts including Aikido, Ninjitsu, and Chi Qong.
Jeanette McGrath is a Shodan (1st degree black) in Judo, and
has practiced for 8 years. She also holds the rank
of Shodan in the DanZan Ryu style of Jujitsu, which she has practiced for

two years of practice in T’ai Chi Ch’uan and Aikido.
Mike McGrath
has been a Judo practitioner since 1995 and holds the rank of Sandan
(3rd degree black) and a Shodan (1st degree black) in Jujitsu.
Enjoying both randori and kata, Mike is a firm believer in the
principle of “mutual benefit and welfare.”
J.R. Reynolds has over 46 years of practice and is a Rokudan (6th degree black) in Judo, Sandan (3rd degree black) in Aikido, and has practiced T’ai Chi Ch’uan since 1982. As a member of the U.S. Marines, he practiced at Judo clubs in 34 countries, with a particular fondness for Barcelona, Spain and South Hampton, England. J.R. believes in combining the spiritual and physical aspects of martial training equally.
